Each year the Lambda Delta Chapter awards grants to graduating high school students from the area who plan to enter the teaching profession. Interested applicants should contact their high school counselor for details and the deadline to apply. Selection is based on the following criteria.
CRITERIA: 1.Application is open to Humble I.S.D. students pursuing a career in teaching/education. 2.The student must be of a senior standing and eligible for graduation in May/June of the current year. 3.The student must plan to enter a college/university in the summer or fall semester of the current year. 4.The student must submit a completed application form along with at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher or an employer, and a copy of the high school transcript or a statement of academic information to be completed by the student counselor. 5.Incomplete/unsigned or late applications will not be considered. 6.Selection for awards will be based on a number of factors including need, motivation, evidence that the student has a desire to become a certified teacher, likelihood of success in college, and academic effort and potential.
DISTRIBUTION AND DOCUMENTATION: 1.Finalists may be asked to schedule an interview in mid to late March. 2.All information provided in the application will be kept confidential and working documents will be destroyed upon distribution of the award(s). Lambda Delta reserves the right to make public announcements of the award recipient’s name and photograph. 3.The number of awards will be at the discretion of the Lambda Delta executive board. Recipients will be notified on or before April 15. 4.Funds will be paid after July 1 and will be submitted by Lambda Delta after proof of enrollment in the summer or fall semester has been provided.
